“The Ixions caught everyone off guard when their navy entered Earth’s atmosphere in 2028. The star in their solar system was dying and threatening to destroy their world so they sought refuge on our planet. For obvious reasons, many people on Earth were less than ecstatic at the prospect of sharing their home with this new race. They were vaguely humanoid in appearance except for their yellowish-gray skin. This, no doubt, made the people of Earth a bit uneasy, but they had the solutions to our greatest problems. Their technological capabilities would help to usher in a new renaissance for our species. The possibilities seemed endless: interstellar travel, application of nuclear fusion, and terraforming. But wielding these scientific miracles resulted in lasting, unintended consequences. Because we did not fully appreciate these advancements we made rash decisions that forever changed our species. Terraforming the moon saved humanity, it’s true, but it also had devastating environmental effects. The mass of the moon increased exponentially and coastal regions on Earth, regions that were heavily populated, became uninhabitable due to tidal changes. Volcanic and seismic activity increased worldwide. Even the cycle of light and darkness was affected.”
